I will keep this short and sweet. Hehe.
Had my 33 week checkup today and everything was fine. We heard baby boy's heartbeat and it sounded great. Although my belly measured 1cm too small for how many weeks I'm carrying still. Nothing major to be concerned about. The OB said that I might be carrying an average sized baby versus the gigantic one that I delivered the first time. (Izzy was 8lbs 6oz). I'm ok with that, as long as everything else is fine.
We will be having a little get together here at home tomorrow. Just some of the family, some neighbors and friends. It should be fun. We're all planning to go together to the International Food Festival at the park down the street.
This is all for now, folks! Have so much to do still!
8 weeks to go and it has finally hit me that I have to get my baby boy's nursery going. I obviously have the big ticket items handed down from Izzy but of course, I stil have to get some new stuff for baby boy so it's not all hand-me-downs. Well actually, that my MILs idea. If it were up to me, I'd use all of Izzy's old stuff since they're pretty much gender neutral (her little newborn stuff are). This is my first big ticket item for little boy.
Look who's trying to take over her baby brother's new rug! Hahaha! I picked this rug because I think this will be so fun for him (and her) when they get a little older. They can play cars, trains, trucks, whatever because there is a street pattern where they can play pretend. So adorable! I got this in store at Target for $80. It really bums me though because I saw a similar one at Ikea in Chicago for $15 but I didn't get it then because I wasn't so sure what my theme would be. Oh well.
This is the actual crib bedding and matching mobile. Also from Target.

These are the Wallies. They go on the wall for decoration since I am challenged in the art department.
As I said in my previous post, I'm getting closer and closer to my due date. I'm feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension. Excitement because it is always exciting to bring in a new life into this world. The sleepless nights, precious moments, baby's firsts, etc. Apprehension because in the back of my mind, that T18 scare is still bothering me. I think it's natural for me to feel this way. But really, what can I do, right? I'm given what I'm gonna be given and I have to accept that and work with it no matter what. All children are God's blessings. I tell myself that all the time.So my friends invited Izzy and I to go to the zoo earlier this week because the weather was sort of nice. I'm not exactly happy with how I look pregnant but since I know this is the last time I will be doing this, I'll post a picture of myself to remind me or make myself laugh/smile/frown in the future.
I'm officially H-U-G-E! I currently weigh in at 150lbs. Well, actually it was 149lbs and some ounces. Haha! I've been gaining 2 lbs a week which is what the average weight gain is for the third trimester anyway. MY OBG might want me to get another sonagram just to monitor that baby has gained what he is supposed to gain because he was in the small side last time. Small but not dangerous small. So I'm praying that he will at least be average in size. I should blame my genetics on this one. I'm not particularly small but I'm not exactly tall either. I'm average, by Filipino standards. Oh well. The good news is that baby boy is moving a lot lot lot! I can feel kicks and punches all the time. It would sometimes wake me up from my sleep. Apparently, this is a great thing. OBG says you don't want a lazy baby. Well, baby boy is NOT lazy. Also, it seems like he is not breech anymore. BUT, there is still room for him to flip around so let's hope that he doesn't.
I'm rambling so I'll make this short. Next appointment is in 2 weeks already. I should be in a panic because we are not yet at all ready for the little boy's arrival. I better get on it. I still have so much stuff to buy, clean, and disinfect--sigh!
When I was in grade school (in the 80s--haha!), I remember everyone in my school used baby cologne. Somehow as we all got older, we graduated to designer colognes and perfumes. I distinctly remember 3 brands which we used to buy at Tickle's or Regina's in old school Greenhills Shoppesville Center - Nenuco, Para Mi Bebe and Denenes. These are all Spanish brands and they smell oh-so-clean, fresh and baby-ish.
So here I am, over half a lifetime later and I find myself forgoing the designer brands. I find them quite strong for my nostrils lately. Or maybe it's just the extra sensitive pregnant sense of smell. I have been using this for the past year.
C.O. Bigelow Lemon and Lime Body Tonic. As the name suggests, it smells very lemon-y, but not so lemon-y that you smell like Lysol or Pledge. I love it. And supposedly it also helps tone your skin. Well, whatever I love the scent especially for after bath.
I got this while I was in Chicago a few weeks back.
Zara Eau de Cologne for Baby. There's actually quite a few of them--Baby Girl, Baby Boy, Teen Girl, Teen Boy, Baby baby. At about $13, it was a bargain. I completely regret not getting more. But it's ok, I'm sure I'll be back there in at least a year or I can always have my cousin or friends get some for me. Hehe!
So back to tge scents of my youth, I did some research and found both Nenuco and Denenes online. Happiness!!!! Although, I don't think I need to buy them just yet, I'm just glad to know that they are available for purchase.
I made some of these this afternoon. Again, so so so good! Fat free too! NOT!
I know I should probably be watching what I'm eating considering I'm so far into my pregnancy. Then again, I feel like I should indulge since I would be on a very strick diet to lose all this fat that I've been gaining. *sigh*
Here's the recipe. It's from allrecipes.com
...when I'm not travelling, that is.
Here's some cool stuff that I've found that to me seem like great deals. Not in any particular order, by the way.
1. Anything from Target
I've found the cutest clothes there (online and in-store). Going further into this pregnancy, I obviously did NOT want to buy maternity clothes anymore. The last time I was huge and pregnant was in the winter time. Not so much the case this time because it is averaging in the 90s lately and there's no way I will wear my old maternity clothes. So I decided to find non-maternity clothes that I can still possibly wear post-partum. Empire-waisted dresses, maxis, my ever reliable yoga shorts, and running shorts--I just pair these with the hubby's shirts because they are loose enough for me to breathe and not feel constricted.
2. Forever 21
Love this place. Oh my! Some people may laugh and ask what a 30something like me (pregnant at that!) is doing shopping for clothes here. Hey, it's cheap. Quality is ok. And again, it's cheap. So I don't really feel awful about going here. I especially love their Fabulous Finds.
3. Old Navy
Yup, love this place too. But I stopped going here when I was on my 2nd trimester I think because I couldn't find anything for me there anymore. I didn't even bother checking their maternity line.
4. Online shopping/browsing
Sheesh. I'm such a sucker for sales. I mean, even if I don't need it and if it's a good deal, most likely I will get it. I found these two super cute sandals.
They were both 50% off! So there was no way I could resist. And this was prior to me leaving for Chicago and I was in a panic because I didn't have anything to wear to match my dresses. (Normally, I just wear my Havaianas.) ;P The bestest best part of this whole purchase was, when I checked the Tory Burch site again a week or so later, they had a special promo going on for another 20% off your entire purchase. AND THEY DO PRICE ADJUSTMENTS TOO! So I called and I got my 20% off since I called at the right time (within 10days of date of shipment). Love it!
I am currently lusting over this Prada Espadrille Wedge from Bergdof Goodman.
I couldn't find the exact picture but this will do. The shoe I want is a lot shorter than this and it's a T-strap. It's available in my size, well kind of. It's a 6 and I wear 6.5, but who cares. Ha! However, I don't find myself losing sleep over this so it's probably a no-go. And besides, I haven't checked on it so it's probably not there anymore.
No, I haven't actually bought stuff for baby boy. Wait, I take that back. I've bought some stuff for his nursery such as a couple of cute light fixtures and have found a new crib set for him. I haven't bought it yet because I'm waiting for my benefactor to come back from her vacation before I do any buying. I have actually picked out a lot of stuff for him--nursery decoration-wise but I just haven't bought them yet. That will come in a month or so. I've already sorted out stuff from Izzy's old baby clothes but I'm so overwhelmed. Next month, I'm sure it will be a different story. Hopefully, I will be reporting that the nursery is all done and is expectantly awaiting baby boy's arrival.
Please. Don't ask me if I have a name picked out already. The answer is no, I have not and if I do, I'm not telling anyway. ;P
